When we ask about the Hollywood stars’ secret for a perfect silhouette and a flawless appearance on the red carpet, their answers go to the ketogenic diet. Preferred by many celebrities, including Gwyneth Paltrow and Halle Berry, the ketogenic diet is a fat-rich and low carbohydrate diet, but unfortunately we come with bad news: it’s not the healthiest, experts find that it leads to growth blood.

Tested on mice, after only four weeks, they were experiencing increased blood pressure. Now, experts are talking about the dangers we pose to this diet. In the United States, one in three adults have problems with hypertension, two thirds of whom suffer from this problem due to extra pounds. Hypertension gradually causes increased blood pressure through the arteries. This can lead to tears, blood clots or even internal bleeding. It also prevents oxygen from reaching the vital organs, thus causing heart disease, vascular accidents, erectile dysfunction and kidney problems.

What is Ketogenic Diet?

Ketogenic diet is defined by low carbohydrate consumption and increased fat. Following this diet, the body is forced into a metabolic phase that leads to starvation, thus consuming carbohydrates, not calories. In the ketogenic diet, carbohydrates are rejected because the body produces glucose, used for energy instead of fat. Ketogenic diet leads to weight loss by burning fat in the body, this being the main source of energy.

Ketogenic diet:  foods you need to eat

  • Vegetables and herbs;
  • Lactates rich in fat;
  • Nuts and seeds;
  • Avocado and berries;
  • Fats: Coconut oil;

Ketogenic diet: foods you do not want to eat

  • Noodles;
  • Sugar, honey or maple syrup;
  • fruit;
  • White or sweet potatoes.

Following a normal diet, 7.2% of calories consumed by rats came from fat, compared with 36% of those who were following the diet plan. The salt level for both diets was “normal”. All rodents had the measured strain both before and after the experiment, the level rising in the rats that followed the ketogenic diet, regardless of sex, except that for males the tension was higher. In contrast, both in females and males, blood sugar and cholesterol levels were the same. Once the study was over, the animals were then killed to examine the tissues.
